Welcome to h cakes!

Thank you so very much for your interest!

My name is Heather Patton (nicknamed "H" and hence, h cakes) and I am an adoring mother to twin two-year-olds. Their first birthday cake was my first ever experience decorating cakes. Armed only with some googled images and research, I actually produced an impressive cake. Guests were amazed I had not purchased it from a professional or taken classes.

I have since then created cake and cupcake art as a hobby for friends and family, perfecting my techniques and enjoying many opportunities for experience. I absolutely LOVE baking, designing, and creating original and artistic cake art. For that special occasion, it is my hope to create a memorable and impressive work of art for you to enjoy with your eyes and stomach!

I am currently (and hopefully forever ;) based in Escondido, CA.

I am in the process of getting licensed, but will be creating cupcakes and cakes for birthdays, showers, holidays, and of course weddings! Please contact me if you have a future event you have interest in me creating a cake for.

And please click on my flikr feed (top right corner) to view my picture portfolio!

Lots of love, Heather "H" Patton

My latest...

To keep you abreast of my latest creations, I decided to provide a more in-depth look into what is new, and what I do...

This cake was created for a first birthday party for a very special and utterly adorable little girl...The center of the "flower head" (yes, that is what it's called...) along with the ladybug itself are fondant-covered cake, ...Guinness cake with ganache. This cake will easily provide 12-15 servings. For more guests, the option of: adding a layer to the flower, adding a sheet cake under the flower, and/or providing some coordinating cupcakes are all possible.

Thanks for looking!

HUGE changes are coming...

My goodness A LOT has happened in recent weeks. The blog has been completely neglected because of two drastic changes. While I had my heart set on selling my pies at the farmers market, the manager of said market had other ideas. Apparently there are too many booths selling pies (even though one is limited and the other seasonal) and I would render the market redundant. (side note..I thought the issue was that pie baking was a dying art and no one makes them anymore?! I thought I had it cornered!)...oh well when one door is closed another is opened..so I put my time and effort into what I planned to do on the side..cake art, er. decorating..I prefer the former..makes me sound like a fancy shmancy artist. Anyway my very supportive friends and family asked me to make them cakes and while I practiced away I heard more and more positive feedback...Soooooooo....

This blog will now be my one and only super duper nifty site for all your cake and cupcakes needs ;) I received some advice and starting a new website would be laborious and wasteful of my time, therefore I will be changing this site to include posts on my latest creations and will include pricing information for those interested cake lovers.

Thank you for your readership (you THREE lovely people ;) and I look forward to seeing your faces after the changes!
